Family,

Ok well I’M TRANSFERRED. I am actually way sad n stuff. I loved this place with all my heart. But the plus side is I literally got transferred 20 minutes away! Lolol my new city is Nürnberg!! I am way pumped. I’m going from a town of 40,000 to a city of 500,000 people lolol should be fun. I am actually replacing Ad.. So I’ll be a Zone Leader now. Lol we were so close to being comps!! But it’s ok my new comp will be great and now I’ll get to work with lots of other missionaries and travel the area a ton!! Way blessed I will still get to see this ward a ton!

But ok quick recap of the week!

From Monday to Tuesday we went on a split in Nurnberg with Ad and his comp (my comp now lol). We all spent the night in their apartment so that was sick we had a blast. I was technically on a split with Ad’s comp Elder Clawson and it was pretty fun. He’s actually a pretty good guy. I got to know him a lot better! He’s the only person I’ve met out here who knows what Brooks Brothers is so we had some good convos! But we were able to teach a lesson to a less active, and it was so interesting! He talked about how he knows he needs to get back to church and do the right things and he loves it when he’s there, but he just doesn’t do it! It was odd to hear him explain it at first but as he went on it all became more and more familiar. Just the concept of knowing something is right, but not doing it anyways. Lol it happens so often to everyone. It’s a hard problem to solve, but it was cool to bear testimony to him that he can change if he wants to. That our responsibility is to come to Christ and let him change us, but the choice is ours in the end.

Wednesday was a pretty interesting day haha we ended up in the weirdest towns. We randomly got on a bus just hoping it would take us somewhere then we went out to this random little town called Treuchtlingen. It actually turned out pretty dope. We didn’t see much success in terms of finding people, but we did talk to this one lady who was just so nice she made my day. She was so kind to us it was like the nicest rejection ever. But what got me was at the end as we were walking away she was like, “keep your smiles on.” Lol that just stuck with me. It reminded me how far a simple smile can go to make someone’s day, even if that someone is you. Even if I walk around smiling all day and it didn’t effect anyone, at least I was smiling all day. Lolol a simple concept but so true. A smile can make anyone happier and it’s so easy!

Then Saturday is when I got the news I was leaving…president called me in the morning and told me I was out which just UGH broke my heart. Then we had our talent show with the ward. It was a blast there was some way funny stuff people did it made me realize even more how much I love this place. Then at night is when the assistants called us and told us exactly where I am going and who I am serving with. Nurnberg will be tons of fun. I can’t wait!  It makes leaving a ton easier. I kinda feel bad though, Ad really liked it here and now he’s leaving.  But he’ll still be a Zone Leader over where the temple is in Friederichsdorf. It’s an awesome place I’m sure he’ll love it!

Yesterday was so odd saying goodbye to people. They all just about died when I told them I got transferred 20 mins away lol. So I am happy it’s not a goodbye, just a see ya later! This ward has taught me ton about what type of person I ought to be and how to do it! I’ll never forget Feucht! But there are many adventures to come these coming weeks! Just gotta roll with the punches I guess!

I love you all! Pray for me to be a good missionary please!

Follow Your Heart’s Desires

Family,

Ok so last pday I was just chilling and emailing and I got an email from another missionary up near Unna where I served last. So idk if you guys remember but back like 7 months ago I was on a split in Dortmund and I contacted this guy named Richmond. Then they thought he lived in our area so we went and taught him but then we found out he didn’t live in our area and so we handed him off to the other elders.  But on Monday I just got an email from this other elder saying that Richmond was baptized!  I couldn’t stop smiling all day! I had no idea they were still meeting with him! I am just so happy! That is the first time my whole mission that I have just simply stopped someone on the street and they ended up getting baptized. Out of the thousands and thousands over the past year and a half that I have talked to, he is the one who made it!  Such a miracle that really just makes it all worth it! Best feeling in the world!

Then Tuesday was just so solid we got some way solid work done! We started out teaching Torsten and we had a member present with us. Well the lesson was ok. We had a nice lesson planned out but then at the very beginning when we asked if he had any questions about what he’s read so far, he brought up how he doesn’t believe the story of Nephi killing Laban. Ugh. We literally went through dozens of scrips and the whole story and just explained and explained why it was necessary, but he just was stuck. We came to the conclusion that he just needs to keep on reading. Then we ate lunch with the lady that helped us teach him. Her name is Schwester Brosch! What a spiritual lady with a hard life! She said something that got me though! She was like “if you guys remember me for something, remember me for this: Follow your heart’s desires. Make sure that they are always good, cause God knows them. He will always help you.” Idk why I felt the spirit so strong when she said that! I think that’s something that can hit home for everybody. Just to chase what our heart wants. I love the thought of that. Cause I gotta believe if it’s righteous, I’ll have some help along the way! Then after that we went and helped the Mohrs! They are so great! We moved some furniture for them then ate with them and taught them a little. They are so loving and so ready. They just need a testimony lol. We just need them to finish reading! He just finished Alma! Keep praying!

On Thursday we were able to meet with Torsten again! This lesson went so much better! It started off a little rough but he just kept on talking about how he hasn’t received an answer yet. And Alma 32 came immediately to mind! It wasn’t at all on our lesson plan but I had a good feeling to read it with him. So we did and it was amazing to see his countenance change. That chapter is so perfect for anyone searching for an answer! Just reading that chapter brought the spirit so strong he was able just to listen to the rest of the lesson as we presented the plan of salvation he totally loved it. He said it makes total sense. It was just so cool! The scrips are SO powerful! It was another testimony builder that when we follow promptings from the spirit, we are given heavenly help! I actually had a scripture sent to me at the beginning of my mission that has been so sick to have in my mind on my mission. It’s D&C 24:12! Motivation!

I love Alma 32 and the lesson it teaches us! If we just live the gospel, we will see all the happiness and love it brings into our lives! All we have to do is take care of our seed with “diligence and patience” and we will become more of who God wants us to be! Mom sent a great quote this week from Elder Oaks. It says, “testimony is to know and to feel; conversion is to do and to become.” Gosh that got me good! I never really thought of testimony and conversion as two different things. It kind of makes me take a look at myself and see how strongly converted I am. I just wanna walk a righteous path and be a good boy lol. Although it is definitely easier said than done, it is definitely worth it!

Ugh we find out this Saturday if I’m staying here for another 6 weeks or if I’m bouncing. I’m way nervous I just wanna stay so we’ll see what happens! And tonight I’m going on my split with Ad!! Yayyyyy more pics to come next week!

I love life! Everything is great. Still just a happy boy. Probably never been happier lol. Like this and meeting Mitt (Oct. 28 2013) are just like neck and neck lol jk but freal I just can’t remember being happier! I feel more myself than ever. I feel more honest and true to who I wanna be and it just feels good! Thanks for all the love and happiness you bring into my life!

Family,

Lol I feel like I was just writing yesterday.  The days really do just blend together! So fast! Anyways this week was solid of course. I’m a happy boy.

From Tuesday to Wednesday I was on a split with an Elder in the district who is pretty new.  He’s a pretty interesting guy. I didn’t really know him too well and it was fun to work with one another. It was really weird though like he was kinda wanting to talk about just the most distracting things throughout the day lol. Like I’m all down for chatting it up about life at night, but I just found it so hard to talk about some of the stuff he wanted to talk about and try and listen to the spirit for any promptings He might be giving me. I read a little bit about “reverence” this week and what it is, and it talked a bit about being well mannered in thought, word, and action, then being able to hear the spirit the best. And it is too often a challenge to be “reverent” throughout the day. Definitely something I could improve on.

On Thursday we met with Torsten! He is such a good guy. He just talks a lot. Like a lot. We met with him at the church and he showed up and we started our lesson and he just always seems to get off topic. Like when we talk about spiritual stuff, the lesson is amazing and the spirit is way strong. But sometimes he just talks and talks and a few minutes later were talking about something completely different. Like at the beginning we asked him what his family means to him. Well he started out ok then 5 minutes later he’s talking about rivers in America! Lol idk how. So it is always a fight to get the lesson back on track. But he is definitely sincere in his search for truth and we are excited for him to make progress. Pray for him. He came to church yesterday and we had a sick lesson. He accepted a soft baptismal invite. He said when he finds out this is all true, he’ll gladly get baptized! Hehe yay!

On Saturday night we walked 4 miles to an appointment with Monday, and he wasn’t there so we had to walk the 4 miles back and it was just pouring rain. lol so bad. But it’s all just kinda part of the experience so it’s all good! Life goes on!

Haha UGH then ok so yesterday a talk fell out and the 1st counselor asked me to give a 5 minute talk like right before the meeting. So I was obviously way nervous and unprepared. I had huge butterflies in my tummy. So I thought I would start off my talk and break the ice so I said “ich habe Schmetterlinge im Bauch” which is just directly “I have butterflies in my stomach.” And it got way too big of laugh out of the ward like it wasn’t supposed to be that funny so I thought something might be up and it might mean something different in German lol. SO after the meeting I literally had 10 people come up to me and explain to me that in German, “butterflies in the stomach” means that someone is in love…I was mortified lol! So embarrassing. It probably doesn’t seem that bad but idk Germans are just very literal people and they were very confused. It was too perfect with valentines yesterday lol I was just so embarrassed.  But I guess it’s a good memory though lol just so bad!

Anyways life is great. I can’t ask for more than what I have right now. I am just happy happy happy. Thanks for all you guys do for me and the love I feel from home. I love you all!

“President, This is a Good Missionary”

Family,

The weeks just go by faster and faster! But they’re so good I am so happy right now! This week was sick.On Tuesday we got to meet with this old woman named Frau Heberlein! She is SO nice and open but she just doesn’t seem to be making tons of progress. She read a little in the Book of Mormon but not a lot. And she said it is just kind of a weird book to her. And so we kinda had to throw our lesson plan out the window and just emphasize the importance of finding out if the book is true or not. Like I don’t think she grasped the significance of it the first time. She also mentioned how it doesn’t sound very nice that only one church on the earth has all the truth…like I didn’t know what to say like sorry?  We explained it a little but it ended up being a sick lesson and she said she’d love to come to church. So we’re just hoping she’ll make it one of these weeks!

It was great on Wednesday we had an appt with our man Monday! That guy is so cool! We had a really good talk on happiness and where we get it and what it is. Unfortunately his fam wasn’t there, but they will be this week! He is just a sick guy with such strong faith. It is always humbling to talk with people who have so little and are so grateful and happy. I never really imagined I would see much poverty in Germany, but it’s everywhere! All these refugees are just fighting for their lives! Monday has such a good heart though I just walked away feeling bad for ever complaining. My life is so good I don’t ever have anything really worth complaining about. But Monday is a baller. I just hope we can get him a ride to church!

Then Thursday we had a solid appointment with the Mohrs! He just bought us a bunch of McDonald’s and brought us to his house lol such a goof. They had some solid questions though that were good to answer!

They are so prepared they take on all of our doctrine like it’s no big deal. They just say they need to finish the Book of Mormon and they’ll decide. I am so excited! They really are like my dream family to baptize! I’m just praying everything can work out! PLEASE keep the Mohrs in your prayers that they can gain a testimony! I love them!

We also had zone training on Thursday! It was awesome. Pres Stoddard was there and so was our Stake Pres, Pres Schwartz. He’s the old mission president and literally a legend throughout the church in Germany. And my ward is actually his home ward. He’s the man. Anyways I had a way cool experience. P Stoddard and P Schwartz were talking and he pulled me over by the arm and he was like (all in English lol it was way funny), “President, this is a good missionary. He is what we need. He has won the hearts of the ward. And I hear this from the youth, too!” (then he talked about a sick kid in our ward that didn’t wanna go on a mission and we’re trying to get him excited about it) and then at the end he was just like, “could we just keep him for a few years?” And Pres Stoddard grabbed me by the hip and was like “haha we’ll try and work on that!” Oh man it was just so dope. It made me feel so good to get solid confirmation that I’m doing ok. Like I haven’t felt like I haven’t been doing ok, it was just so great to hear from some of the most important people in the mission.

And yesterday was great! We were kinda bummed cause we ended up having to hand Carmen over to the sisters just cause it would be a ton easier to teach. But I know she’ll do great and make lots of progress! But the sisters met this guy named Torsten and so they handed him over to us and yesterday he came to church and we had a class with our bishop and him! It was so sick we were just talking about Joseph Smith and we read the whole story about him, and right as we finished our bishop was like “how do you feel about that?” And Torsten was just like “I think it’s true.” I was just like 🙀🙀🙀 OMG I was so pumped! We have a meeting with him this week that should be sweet! We are way pumped!

Life continues to just roll on. I’m a happy boy just loving life. Love you all so much!

Family,

Yoooo hey this week was actually pretty sick again! The weather here is so bizarre it was like fairly warm this week it was kinda nice to walk around in! But lol I won’t talk about weather. I promise my week wasn’t that boring.

On Wednesday we got to go over to a member’s house and teach their 8 yr old son about the baptism!! He is getting baptized in March and they wanted us to teach him all about it! It was a blast! Little kids are great to teach.  It kind of gives us a chance to makes lessons more fun and the parents just love it! It’s just cool cause in the end, we teach the same principles to an 8 yr old as we would to an 80 yr old.  Just in different ways but it is nice to have an unchanging message for everyone lol.

Then oh boy Thursday we met with the Familie Mohr! Ugh I love that fam! They are so kind and loving to us we really just feel at home. It has been a bit of a struggle lately though, like they don’t really want to be taught. They just wanna read, and have their questions answered. It can be frustrating sometimes, but sometimes we just need to go at their pace and not ours. He is starting to read Alma right now, and she is reading D&C.  Then they explain to each other what they read. They love it here in the ward and feel totally comfortable.  We have so much fun when we go over to their house! He just barely got a new weight set and he was showing it to us and we did some benching.  I’m so weak.  But Tim works at a factory where they make protein powder and he just gifted us like 2 huge bags of protein powder lol they really are the best!  Please continue to keep them in your prayers!

Saturday the other elders had the baptism of the guy Croft taught in Ingolstadt! He is doing well he’s a solid guy. His name is Marako!  Pray for him!

Then yesterday was just too perfect! The Mohrs came and brought their Bruder and he loved it! And Carmin came too! Yayyyyyyy we had another class with Carmin and talked about prayer and stuff. She is really loving it and is totally feeling something special! We have an appointment on Friday evening with a member family! It should just be great! The work is just movin along it is so much fun! We are having a blast with the ward we really just feel like things couldn’t get better!  I was reading in True to the Faith this week about the Holy Ghost, and it talked about how the Holy Ghost can calm all of our “nagging worries” and that just stuck out to me a ton! I just thought about all the stuff that is on my mind all day whether it be at home or out here in the field. And there is a lot that just is nagging at my mind! It has been great to focus on the Holy Ghost and having those worries be hushed!

Oh man life is just good. I really can’t complain about anything. I just feel good. I’m a happy boy.

Thanks for all the love! I love you all back!
