Rock Im Park

Family,

I am tired! So over the weekend there was this thing called “Rock im Park” and it is just a three day long rock concert! And it happened to be directly next to our apartment. And the main act this year happened to be the Red Hot Chili Peppers! Pretty crazy. So last night we were just chillin there listening clearly to all the classic songs from them lol and it went pretty late into the night. So not much sleep happened! A few other bands came that I think I knew like of mice of men or something and tenacious D and panic at the disco and black sabbath idk I just recognized a few songs but I never knew who was actually playing them. But ya anyways crazy stuff. But besides that this week was great!

Omg on Tuesday it was crazy. So it was transfer day and we had a few new elders coming into the zone. So we had another missionary with us and we were waiting for his new comp to arrive on his train at 2:30.  Well his train showed up and he didn’t get off…and we were way confused. We looked all over and we could not find him. Then we called the office elders to see if they knew anything and they didn’t. Anyway long story short we literally sat at the train station for 4 hours waiting for this elder to get there. He just randomly showed up on this train and apparently we got the wrong info about when he was supposed to come. It was insane. So ya Tuesday was way stressful and boring and frustrating but everything worked out great!

Then lol Wednesday was awesome! We got hit by a car but that isn’t the awesome part. This guy kind of cut us off and so elder Clawson slams on his breaks and a guy rear ends us. It was too hard and there was luckily just some paint damage. But omg we were freaking out we thought our car was gonna be way bad. But ya that night we had our investigators Adrian, max, and Ricardo show up to institute! They are so classy and polite it’s great! They have such good manners and are so friendly I really am excited to see where things go with them! They are all from Nürnberg and they are students. And….Adrian loves Mitt Romney! He loved the picture of Mitt and me lol I knew my love for Mitt would pay off some day. But ya they should be coming again this Wednesday and they said they’d love to come on Sunday! Fingers crossed!

Saturday was pretty sweet as well! We were able to meet so a guy names Numann who Adam actually taught and baptized when he was in the stake here. He is so legit! We met with him at the Grand Hotel here in Nürnberg and just had a really great uplifting conversation with him.

This week I have thought a lot about the Christ-Like attribute of Virtue! It has been the topic of my study for a little bit and it has been so uplifting! Being virtuous is so so hard but feels so so good.
Just doing the right thing even when no one is watching just because it’s the right thing to do. I always want to strive to be virtuous in all that I do cause I think in the end virtue is what really counts. It’s not gonna be what I did in front of lots of people, but what I did behind closed doors. There a great quote from Preach My Gospel when it says, “just as vital as what you do, is who you are”…like I can’t just do Christ-Like things, I need to be Christ-Like. A lot easier said than done, but it’s so rewarding!

Life is great in this wonderful place! I feel so blessed to be here.  Thanks for all the love and support! I love you all so much!

What Are You Afraid Of?

Family,

On Wednesday we had a going away party at institute for the senior couple here. Their name is the Harts and ugh it is SO sad to see them go! They have been so helpful and so kind to missionaries. We had a great turn out at the party though and I think they could for sure feel the love we have for them. We also found out on Wednesday that when the Mormon tabernacle choir comes on July 1st we get to go set up and hang out with everybody and translate lol so that’ll be way sick!  I’m way excited! I’ve never been to a MoTab concert before it’s weird that my first one ever will be in Germany lolol but oh well I’m pumped!

Friday night we got some solid time to go out and find! It’s always nice just to have a few hours dedicated to hitting the streets and doors. Lots of people were out so it was great! Idk why but lately people have just been so nice to me! It’s so weird just like a lot more people have been stopping to talk lately. It’s such a tender mercy when somebody will at least just stop and hear us out.  Then on Saturday was transfer calls…and Elder Clawson and I are staying together. My BFF in the district Elder Merkley got transferred and so did a sister in our area that I’m tight with and also the senior couple Harts are leaving!! Soooo sad! On Saturday night I just had this overwhelming feeling of “UGH” I was just sad. I felt really unsure of the future and just didn’t feel good. But I was sitting at my desk and thinking and praying and got a huge feeling of peace and comfort. I felt the words like “what are you afraid of?” And that just helped so much. Missions are all about change and that’s just the way it is. I don’t want to waste any time dwelling on what “could be or could have been” I have 11 weeks left and so I’m just gonna try my hardest and work! Make the best of everything that comes my way!

I touched on it last week, but I have thought even more this past week about the importance of seeing people not as they are, but as they may become. And the love and acceptance that we allow into our lives when we do so! There is a great quote from President Monson I wanted to share!  “We need to bear in mind that people can change. They can put behind them bad habits. They can repent from transgressions. They can bear the priesthood worthily. And they can serve the Lord diligently.” It becomes more and more apparent to me how happy I am when I do bear in mind that people can change, including myself. It’s beautiful that nobody has to be who they once were. It’s comforting to me that I get to decide who I am today and tomorrow, and that I don’t have to be who I was yesterday. Just the happiest message in the world! I just wish more people wanted to hear it! lol

Life is good I love you all so much! Have such a wonderful week!  Thanks for everything

Have You Ever Heard of Mitt Romney? LOL

Family,

This week was amazing! The Mohrs were baptized!! It was so great I wish I could describe it lol

But first omg Tuesday was so dope we had such a miracle! So we got a Mormon.org referral for some guy and we call him and he was down to meet us at the church on Tuesday night! So I was on an exchange with a brand new missionary and I just thought this would be a good opportunity to help him have a great experience. So before he was planned to come, we said a prayer together and asked for a miracle to happen and expressed that we believed it could happen. Then as we finish we heard some voices walking up to the door and we open it and there were TWO guys! He brought his friend!! MIRACLE. And omg these two guys were so classy it was amazing. Their names are Adrian and Max! They just dressed so nice and were so polite. Anyway I just knew it would be a great lesson from the start. I was just asking Adrian how he found the church and he said he had just heard about it through different things. But he’s in to American politics and he was like “have you ever heard of Mitt Romney?” 😏😏😏  lolol and he said he just knew he was a Mormon. But ya the lesson was amazing! They had so many questions and just were way sincere! They’re 23 and 25 and they’re coming to institute on Wednesday! Pray 4 them please!

On Thursday we went down to go do the baptismal interview for Tim! So last week Silke(the wife) had decided that she didn’t want to be baptized which was a huge bummer. But on our way down there the elders called us and told us that Silke changed her mind! I was freaking out I was so pumped! I asked Tim why she finally changed her mind and he said it’s because she was reading in D&C 40 about a man who knew the church was true and didn’t get baptized and she said she did not want that lol you should all go read D&C chp. 40 it is only 3 verses and is awesome how just that changed her mind!

And Saturday was the day. It honestly changed my life. I feel like all my wildest dreams of a mission came true. I got to the church early and Tim and Silke showed up shortly after and we talked for a just a little and then we got dressed! It was so amazing to see them in their white clothes! They were already shining before they even were baptized! We took some amazing pics. I can’t help but feel like crying every time I look at the picture of us and them and their kids. Their kids names are Johanna and Samuel. They are so cute! But the baptism was so beautiful I wish I could just describe it! There was a great talk on the baptism and then we all went and did the baptism! An Elder named Elder Summerhays baptized Silke and I baptized Tim! I was so excited I really slammed him in the water it made quite a splash but it turned out great I loved it! We were all changing in the bathroom after and we were like “how do you feel?” And he was just like “just like new” lol and then we were straightening our ties in the mirror and he was like “so, when you first met me did you know I’d be baptized?” And I just smiled and was like “I knew eventually it would happen…eventually.” Lol then there was a talk on the Holy Ghost and we wrapped up the service! The whole thing was just incredible I am so so happy.

Tim Mohr Baptism

I have thought a little bit about what makes the Mohrs so special the last week or so. I thought a lot about the concept of seeing people not as they are, but as they may become. I just think back to when we very first met the Mohrs and how excited we were. Elder Vorimo and I would just always talk about them in their future callings in the church and them giving talks in sacrament meeting and most importantly, getting sealed in the temple. We taught them and treated them with all of that in mind. I know the ward was doing the same and that increased our love for them so much which only helped us teach them effectively. And I know that the Mohrs really do have such a bright successful future in the church. Their faith and kindness and example have changed my life! I love them with all my heart! I feel like the luckiest boy in the world for the opportunity I had to witness their solid conversion to the gospel. I am so grateful for those times when I do look at people not as they are, but as they may become. When I remember that people can change and that no one has to be tied to their previous mistakes it gives me such a feeling of freedom I just feel light and happy.  I’m so grateful for the changing effect of the gospel and the happiness it has brought into my life!

I love you all so much! Thanks for the love and support. It’s way crazy this past week I hit my 3 month mark till home! I have 12 weeks left so I’m just trying to enjoy everyday!

Have a wonderful week!

Overcoming Stereotypes

Family,

Whatuppppp.  This week was sick again! Lol just happy

On Tuesday we had a big zone training which turned out really great! A lot of people got involved and I think had some fun! The main theme was for everyone to have a vision of where their area can and should be in the future, and to work for it. I feel like so many areas here have so much potential but they have a stereotype about them that they’re really hard or something and elders just get it in their head that they can’t build up their area. So we wanted to focus on that and what we can do to change it. We talked about seeing it and achieving it lol so we bought piñatas and did a little analogy lesson which was way fun lol. It had been so fun serving in Nürnberg and just getting to interact with so many missionaries!

On Thursday to Friday I was on a split with an elder named Elder Diederich. He went to Olympus and I didn’t know him in high school, but we know a ton of the same people and he’s way sick. We talked a ton on the split about just life and it was just great. We taught our investigator Mohannad, and usually we teach him with a translator over Skype but that fell out so we kinda had to use just basic English.  Well the sisters show up with this other Arabic speaking lady who is interested in Christianity and so we totally used Mohannad to bear testimony to her about Christ, the church, and the Book of Mormon! It was so dope not to understand anything, but to feel the spirit while he was talking. It’s amazing to have an investigator bear powerful testimony to someone he’s never met before.

On Saturday we had a street display in the city and it was SO good!  Idk why this one was so special but like 75% of the people I talked to were actually nice to me. It was awesome! Obviously not all of them had interest, but a lot of them actually heard me out and talked with me.  It is so nice just to smile and talk with people. And plus we did pick up 3 potential investigators for only like 3 hours of work. So that was amazing. Then that night we went over to Rick and Thomas’s house and ate with them.  It was awesome to hear them talk about the changes they’ve seen in their lives! I love those two so much I’m just happy to know them. But ya Saturday was just a good day.

And this Saturday is the baptism of Bruder Mohr!! I couldn’t be more excited! This is the most excited I’ve been on my mission! I feel like it’s the climax or something like the moment I’ve been waiting for.  Everybody please keep him in your prayers!

Love you all! Thanks so much for everything.  I couldn’t do this without you!

The Lifestyle of Discipleship is the Path for All of Us

Family,

YOOOO one of the best weeks of my mission!!!

So, Monday thru Wednesday I was on a split with one of my fav missionaries out here! His name is Elder Merkley.  He went to Skyline but I never knew him back home. He is so sick we just get along great and did some good work together! On Wednesday we were able to teach Adrian the plan of salvation and it was so cool to see someone just embrace it so easily. Everything we teach he just loves! We talked a lot about why we’re here on earth and the purpose of the gospel. And we had a really good discussion about living the gospel and the happiness it brings into our lives. It’s cool cause he is only 19 and just about every 19 yr old in Germany smokes drinks and parties. But he has told his friends that he isn’t doing that stuff anymore and that’s the way he wants to live! The spirit was there as we bore testimony about living the gospel and experiencing the happiness that comes with it. I really do know that the lifestyle of discipleship is the path for all of us.  And I know God blesses us as well as our loved ones, when we try our hardest to love Him and serve Him!

On Thursday morning, I got the best phone call of my life. I was sitting at my desk just preparing to leave the apartment when I get a call from a random number. I pick up and I immediately recognized it as Bruder Mohr! Idk how many of you remember but the Familie Mohr were like my golden investigators back in Feucht. It is the two parents and their two kids. A 3 yr old and a 9 month old. We found them (they found us) back in January. Just the best little family ever! The elders in Feucht have continued to teach them while I’ve been 20 minutes away here in Nürnberg. Well Bruder Mohr called me and just asked how I was doing and all that stuff then said “well, in case you haven’t heard I’m getting baptized. I have a testimony!” And I was just freaking out my heart was pounding. Then the best part came. He said “weil du dabei am Anfang warst, es ist mir wichtig daß du der Täufer bist.” Which translated is simply “because you were there at the beginning, it’s really important to me that you baptize me.” My knees just buckled and I laid down while on the phone with him. I was seriously speechless I think I spoke the worst German ever just cause I couldn’t think straight lol. I was so overwhelmed all I could keep on saying was “Ja” lolol.  It turns out that on the 21st of May, Tim and his wife Selka are going to be baptized! It was seriously the best news I have received in my 20 months out here and probably in my 20 years on earth lol. I am so excited and so blessed to be able to play a role in this eternal family’s conversion to the gospel! Hopefully in a year or so, Tim and Selka will go to the temple and be sealed together forever! I can only dream of coming back and witnessing that.  I just want to bear my testimony that I KNOW God loves and loves his kids. There’s really not a doubt. The gospel is so true and it changes lives. No happiness I have felt before has matched up to that which I feel every day. I am the luckiest boy in the world!

On Friday we went to Frankfurt for a meeting with other missionaries and I got to see Ad so that’s always a highlight in my week! It’s so crazy how little time he has left! Spending all this time together and for my final 6 weeks he’ll be gone! Crazy stuff. But it’s awesome I’m thankful every day to serve my mission with my BFF.  Then Saturday we went and did some service at Rick and Thomas’ house!  It was so much fun lol it is quite a big project but I just love it. We like chopped and pulled down a tree and power washed their deck and mowed the lawn. lol The house was beat up but it’ll look good when we’re all finished! Rick and Thomas are so great I just love being around them!

service

And I’ll get to see you all on Sunday!!!! So pumped!! It’s gonna be sick we are actually going over to Rick and Thomas’ to Skype! So we’ll introduce them to you for sure! That’ll be awesome. I’m so looking forward to it!

Well I guess I’ll talk to you later! Literally lol. Have a great week!  I love you all a lot.  Thanks for the love I feel!

“It’ll Be Tough, But Life Changing”

Family,

What a fun week! Just happy times here in Nürnberg!

On Tuesday the sisters had a baptism of a girl names Zeynep! She has been wanting to get baptized for the past year, but her parents have always said no. She is just 23 and is seriously one of the coolest people I’ve met on my mission! It was such a special day for everyone.  Watching her finally get baptized was one of the best experiences of my mission! I felt so lucky to have been able to take part in it. She was so nervous before, but she was just glowing afterwards! It made me think a lot about how lucky I am to have grown up in this church. I never really took it seriously but seeing Zeynep so eager to become a member helped me realize how blessed I am to have grown up in the church! Such a good day!   Then on Wednesday we met with Adrian lol and he is just unreal.  Sometimes I feel like it’s all just fake cause he cannot be that good. Like he came to the baptism and then afterwards was just like “hey can you guys come over this weekend so we can plan mine? I am just so excited!” Lolol so we have been waayy nervous to bring up the law of chastity and word of wisdom because he’s had a gf and smokes and drinks a little. So we got there and we sit down and we just start out plain and we’re like “we wanna talk about something called the word of wisdom” and he’s like “ya I was already talking to some of the members and stuff and they explained that I can’t smoke which is fine cause I wanted to quit anyway and I don’t wanna drink anymore either. Oh and don’t worry about that whole sexual contact thing cause my gf broke up with me” our jaws were to the floor! I was just so pumped! He isn’t even sad about his gf cause he is seriously so out of her league. But with the word of wisdom stuff he kept on saying “it’ll be tough, but life changing. And that’s what I want” it was awesome. It felt good to bare my testimony to him that the gospel does change us. That its purpose is to change us into who we are supposed to become!

On Friday we had a huge zone training and it went really well! It always involves a ton of planning and a little stress but it all went way smooth so I was way grateful for that! The training was on “our purpose as a missionary” and there was some really good stuff. I think it’s great for every missionary once in a while to just take a little time and think about why they’re doing what they’re doing. I think a large portion of my reasons for being out here have completely changed over the past year and a half and when I really think about these specific reasons it helps me so much to continue to work hard throughout each day.

Then Saturday president was here doing some interviews and so Elder Clawson and I got to have some lunch with him and his wife which is always such a treat! And we also got to meet with a less active named Chris and he is so cool! He is American but has lived here most of his life and he was just baptized last year! He is such a great guy at heart! He is so nice and he is just returning to activity so we are just pumped for him! He said “it doesn’t matter if my best isn’t as good as someone else’s best. I just gotta give my best.” And that struck so true to me! He doesn’t compare himself to anyone and that is the way I should be. Just give my best and everything will work out!

And yesterday Rick and Thomas received the priesthood! It was so awesome! Now they are officially holders of the priesthood! So so cool.  It is all a dream come true! Life really is so good right now! I can’t think of one thing to complain about! I just feel like a lucky boy to be here right now! I feel like when I’m home these will be “the good ‘ol days” lol

I love you guys so much! Have a safe week!

They Just Love Being Mormon

Family,

Monday thru Wednesday was basically just spent organizing stuff for the transfer and we had two missionaries staying the night with us because they we leaving on Wednesday. It was a little stressful just cause we had a lot of new missionaries come to the zone and we were just trying to make sure it all went smoothly. So it was a bummer we didn’t get to do a ton of finding at the beginning of the week but it’s all good! Some stuff just has to get done sometimes.  On Thursday we went over to teach Rick and Thomas and it was so sweet! They always insist on feeding us the most German food lol it’s great! This time they made us baggers. They think they’re like potato pancakes but they’re not at all lol. They’re similar to hash browns but you eat them with apple sauce lol they’re so good! But we were just talking with them and they were like “so…are we still gonna keep contact when you guys go back to America?”  And said how they’re gonna come visit us in SLC when they come and see the temple. Lol it was so sweet! They asked for our social media info lol it was so funny. I love Rick and Thomas.  They are so pumped to get their church ID number so they can start ordering stuff off the church’s website.  lol They just love being Mormon. Rick even asked for a Book of Mormon for his friend! Things are going so well with them!

On Friday we taught a lesson with our investigator Mohannad using a translator from Saudi Arabia over Skype! So the lessons are in Arabic!  It is so crazy to listen to! We just tell the translator a line and he just has this big discussion with Mohannad. It’s amazing though cause none of us can understand a word of what is being said, but as the translator teaches, the spirit is still there! It’s way cool to be a part of. Mohannad is making great progress right now! Because he’s Muslim there are some guidelines we have to follow before he gets baptized, but his goal is definitely for him to get baptized! We know he will eventually we just need a few things to clear up. Like tons of Muslims put their lives at risk when they convert to Christianity cause their friends will often just like murder them or something. So we’re taking it slow but it’s all coming together!

I’ve pondered a lot this week about love! Not like romance love, but just like loving others. It’s been on my mind the past little while and so I’ve just been studying and thinking about it lots! I’ve always struggled in this area and I just really want to improve on it! There’s a great talk from President Monson where he quotes a little poem:

I have wept in the night
For the shortness of sight
That to somebody’s need made me blind;
But I never have yet
Felt a tinge of regret
For being a little too kind.

Lol I just love that! I’ve come to realize in the last little while how important the small acts of kindness are throughout daily life.  Not only big acts of love, but just simply being nice to people. Cause I was just thinking about it and like all of my favorite people in my life are all way nice. And that’s just the way I wanna be! I’ve never regretted just being kind to anyone. And I’m way grateful that the gospel gives me ways and inspiration to be better and be more of the person I’m supposed to be! Sometimes it just feels like the road is forever but I know that change is gradual and if I just keep working and embracing the change the gospel offers me, it’ll all be ok!

Life is good! I’m just rollin along out here! Life is too good to me lol I’m having a blast! Let me know if there’s anything I can do for you!

Sickest Experience of My Mission

Family,

WOW. This week was so good! Probs one of my fav ever!

Ok I’ll just give a recap of the baptism and how it was the sickest experience of my mission. So Tuesday at 18:00 everybody starts showing up and Rick and Thomas are there and everything is going perfect. We actually had a good turn out from the ward which was really nice! So the program starts and we just had two bomb talks from members on the baptism and the Holy Ghost. Then the time came where we baptized Rick and Thomas! Rick and Elder Clawson went first and everything went great! Then Thomas and I went and I just couldn’t stop smiling! The whole time I was baptizing him I just had such a big smile I couldn’t help it. Then we all got changed while everybody else is just singing songs. Then we come back and it was time for Rick and Thomas to bear their testimonies. I’ll just give summaries of their stories the best I can from memory

image4

Ricks:
“When I was a kid, my grandma had a friend who was Mormon who gave her a Book of Mormon. She used to read me stories out of the scriptures. I loved them and knew they were true. After a few years passed, my grandma died and life went on for many many years. I read through (literally) 50 different bibles looking for these stories that I had heard from my grandma and not one of them had those stories in it.  Then through my friend I received a Book of Mormon, and as soon as I started reading it I found those stories I had been looking for. The ones my grandma used to read me. I felt the spirit and knew that they were true.” Then he went on to bear testimony of he Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, President Monson, and Jesus Christ. It was so powerful!

Thomas:
“I grew up in the Catholic Church and went to church every Sunday. But as I grew older I felt that the Catholic Church didn’t have the spiritual fulfillment that I was looking for. I was searching for truth in many different churches but nothing felt right. Through Rick I was invited to come to the LDS church. The first time I came to church here, it was as if I had just come home. Through studying the Book of Mormon and the Bible and then praying about it, I know it is true. I know this church is true.” As soon as he said he felt like he had come home everyone just started crying.  LOL it was my first time since skyping mom, LOL but everything was just so powerful.  It was the best experience of my mission!

I feel way lucky to have been a part of all that. It is even cooler cause Ad is the one who taught Rick and Thomas the first two lessons!  We had always talked about teaching the same people who got baptized lol. So cool. I have learned a lot from Rick and Thomas and their testimonies really just changed my life. Just seeing how God had prepared those two for everything that has happened is such a testimony builder to me!

On Wednesday we had a meeting with the stake president at the church and as we showed up our investigator Adrian was just sitting in his car reading the Book of Mormon lol. We talked for a little but then had to go to our meeting. As we met with the stake president he told us he saw Adrian and talked to him and he said he is totally ready for baptism. He was talking to Adrian and said Adrian told him that what really got him going, was in the first lesson he had with the Elders, the testimony I gave simply of Heavenly Father is what really touched him. He said he could feel how sure I was that there is a God that loves us. It was so cool to hear that such simple testimony can impact someone so much! We later set a date for Adrian to be baptized on May 28th!! We are way pumped! He for sure has some obstacles to overcome, but he’ll do it no doubt! Then that night I got to go on a split back to Feucht! I got to see the Cheklystovs (fav Russian family) and it was amazing! I gave them a pic of me and them and we just had the best time together! Mom and dad are for sure gonna meet them when they come get me lol. But ya it was great to be back in Feucht. Such great people! I love Nürnberg a lot and the city is way cool, but idk there’s just something about Feucht is just makes me happy! I love it there. I’m way lucky to be right next to it!

Cheklystovs

Then Saturday came and we got our transfer calls, and elder Clawson and I are staying! So we’re pumped about that! This upcoming transfer should be awesome!

Yesterday Rick and Thomas were confirmed and everything went well! They really just feel part of the ward. They big bought two new suits and they wore their ties that elder Clawson and I bought them. They are so sick! After church yesterday they had a barbecue and invited the ward just to come celebrate their baptism lol. It was so great! Rick’s wife made a cake shaped like a book and on one page it said “a new beginning” and it was so cool. Everything just went so smoothly with them, it was a dream!

Life is so good right now! I’m way happy. Time is just flying by!  Thanks for all the love and support I feel from home! Love you guys!

“There is nothing good, unless you do it”

Family,

“Es gibt nichts gutes, außer man tut es” lolol that shout out to Germans from Pres Uchtdorf was so sick! This week was great! Things are going so well!

On Monday and Tuesday night we met with Rick & Thomas! Both lessons were amazing! Watching them just accept the gospel and live it has strengthened my testimony so much! They are just really happy! They both have overcome come really big things to be where they are today and they just are so inspiring to me! I’m way grateful for them!

On Wednesday it was so sick! So 2 1/2 hours before Institute started we were filling out some papers at the church when our investy Adrian shows up! (He’s from Texas but has lived in Germany for 7 years and he’s 19) and so we just met with him right then. And it was an amazing lesson! For the last few weeks he has just come to institute but would quickly leave. We explained the Book of Mormon and how the church came to be and he totally was interested! He just talked about how whenever he comes to institute he just loves it and feels so much happier throughout week. It was so cool to hear him explain his feelings and just watch him glow! Then on Thursday we met with him and we’re just chatting and he said that earlier that day he just we taking the subway and he randomly came to the church because he said he just felt like he was drawn to it lol he said he was just sitting there then the next thing knew he was just at the church! Crazy! And he said on Wednesday night he sat down to read the Book of Mormon and he was reading and looked at the clock and realized he had been reading for TWO hours! Lolol it was insane! My jaw was to the floor the whole time! So we are gonna meet with him this week and try and help him recognize that what he’s feeling is the Holy Ghost and set a baptismal date! I’m so pumped to be teaching him!

Friday we had the baptismal interview for Thomas and Rick and things went SO WELL. The person who did the interview said he could really feel their testimony. They both have turned around their life and it is amazing to witness. I haven’t really seen them at their worst, but they are easily able to testify of the reality of the changing factor of the gospel. They have both had extreme addictions and have chosen to live new lives! Like I said they are such an inspiration to me! I feel their sincere desire to be better people than they have been in the past, and it is encouraging to someone in a similar situation to see the positive effects of the gospel live in action!

Then Saturday and Sunday conference were amazing! There were so many messages that I feel like were intended for me. We had Rick and Thomas show up to every session! On Saturday we just watched the Saturday morning session because that’s night time for us. So on Sunday we watched three sessions and Rick and Thomas came to all of them! It was awesome they just love the church so much I am so pumped. I have yet to watch the Sunday afternoon session but I’m sure it is just as good!  I loved president Monson’s talk on Sunday. It was so short but so sweet. I loved his message just on the importance of making good choices and getting on the right path. It’s so true the fact that the choices we make now, will determine our destiny. And we need to know where we wanna end up, in order to know which path we want to walk down. I just left every session feeling so inspired!

So ya the baptism is tomorrow at 18:00! I feel so lucky to baptize these two! So Elder Clawson is baptizing Rick and I’m baptizing Thomas! I am so pumped! Pics will come next week!

I love you all so much! I hope your week is safe and fun! I would love to hear any of your favorite talks or take aways from conference! Bis nächste Woche!

Family,

On Monday we had another lesson with Rick and Thomas! We mainly talked about smoking and how we can help him quit before the baptism. He is so determined! It’s so hard though cause he’s trying to quit but his wife won’t quit and she smokes in the house so he is just smelling it all day…but he is so legit! He has gone from 45 cigs a day, to 5!!  (Or so we thought lol) Crazy! I know he can do it by the 5th of April!  Teaching those two has been so inspiring! They just take the gospel head on and accept it. They ask questions with real intent to learn, not to prove wrong. And because they are real, they get answers and their testimonies are growing stronger and stronger!  On Tuesday we had our Zone Conference and everything went great! I’m so glad to have it over with. It took a bit of preparation but everything turned out great! The whole conference was just on the German language and how to study and learn it better. And also at the end we just talked about Christ and Easter. It was great to kinda set the mood for the rest of the week and think about Christ a lot!  Then Wednesday it was way interesting I got to go on a split with a missionary who only has two weeks left! He’s just about to go home and it was awesome just to talk to him about his mission and stuff! We were talking and I asked him what his biggest regret is, and his answer taught me a lesson! He said “I wish I would have allowed my self to have a better attitude.” And idk why that just really struck me! Just to hear a missionary say that that is his #1 regret. A good attitude really does help someone be so much happier. Some missionaries get so absorbed in themselves and their own bad situation and they’re never happy! I’ve noticed that the missionaries who care more about the happiness of others than their own are the happiest missionaries!  On Friday we got to go to Frankfurt for a big meeting with other missionaries and I got to see Ad! I’ll send a pic. It’ll be nice to see him once a month till he goes home though!

Easter was just a really special day for me. The list is too long but I just had a lot of little things happen yesterday that really built my faith on Christ! Yesterday Rick and Thomas showed up to church and before we even said hello Rick goes “I haven’t smoked in 2 days. I quit” LOL we are SO HAPPY. He is the man! He was so chill about it too lol like it wasn’t a big deal. Thank you all for the prayers! Keep praying he certainly needs help to keep going! And yesterday evening we visited  African family and they fed us some FuFu! Some of you probably know what that is, and it was so gross! Lol it was made with like this fish paste and stuff it was bad. But the whole experience was awesome. The family was so loving and idk it was such a loving home I really enjoyed it! I love Easter!

Ps bonus best news of the week: the Feucht elders called me and said that Bruder Mohr called and……HE HAS A TESTIMONY OF JOSPEH SMITH AND THE BOOK OF MORMON. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Seriously one of the happiest moments of my mission! He said “I believed since the first time you guys told me Joseph Smith was a prophet.” OH MAN I am so happy!  They are meeting on Friday to maybe pick a date for baptism. They still gotta move slow but it’s all good!

Life is amazing! My faith in Christ and His forgiveness have effected me a lot this week! I have thought a lot about Him and His love for everybody and it has made my week so much better! I’m so grateful for Him and His love!

I love you all so much! Stay safe and have a wonderful week!
